# Somali National University Researchers Honored at SRIF 2026
Students and researchers from Somali National University (SNU) were recognized for their academic achievements at the Somali Research & Innovation Forum (SRIF 2026), organized by the Benaadir Research, Consultancy and Evaluation Center.
The forum brought together researchers, academics, technology professionals, and innovation experts to celebrate research achievements and discuss opportunities for strengthening Somalia's research ecosystem.
## Recognition of Research Excellence
During the forum, several Somali National University students were honored with certificates and medals in recognition of their published research.
The awardees were part of a research cohort that collectively produced more than 40 publications, marking an important milestone in the development of research capacity and academic excellence.
The recognition highlighted the growing contributions of Somali students and researchers to knowledge creation, scientific inquiry, and innovation.
## SNAIC Coordinator Participates in Research Panel
Dr. Mohamed Adam Isak Abdirahman, Coordinator of the Somali National AI Center (SNAIC), participated in a panel discussion titled:
**"From Potential to Impact: Empowering Somalia's Next Generation of Researchers through Funding, Technology and Policy Collaboration."**
The discussion brought together scholars and experts in research, technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation to explore how funding opportunities, emerging technologies, and institutional policy collaboration can support the next generation of Somali researchers.
## Celebrating Somalia's Research Community
The forum's closing ceremony was presided over by the State Minister of Education, Higher Education and Culture.
The recognition of SNU students and the participation of SNAIC leadership reflected the growing engagement of Somali academic institutions in research and innovation.
